Rene Carloni’s European Tour!

Rene Carloni European Tour

And just like that, the summer season of 2023 has come to a conclusion.

It was a big one for the Carloni Mortgage Brokers office, and not just because of the numerous clients that we helped secure dream homes for across BC. If you’ve been following our blog then you know that Rene Carloni headed out on a European tour which began with Amsterdam and segued into a quick (too quick) jaunt into Rome followed by a 1,314 kilometer journey into Slovakia.

Slovakia was a real treat for a number of reasons. To begin with, Rene was invited to be a part of the Marián Hossa star-studded “Goodbye Game” event in the city of Trencin. Marián Hossais is a Slovak former professional ice hockey right winger who entered the NHL as a first round draft pick by the Ottawa Senators. He was the first NHL player to appear in the Stanley Cup Final three straight seasons with three different teams, and won the Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010. Hossais was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.

For the uninitiated, Rene Carloni has a number of friends and associates in professional hockey. These relationships open up a few doors into the international real estate market to the benefit of clients that are counted in the Carloni Mortgage Brokers family. This summer’s sojourn into Europe was quite telling, with the Slovakia real estate market being of particular interest.

Rene sat with popular radio and TV personality Milan Zimneykoval, at the Marián Hossais event at the Pavol Demitra Ice Stadium. Zimneykoval shared insightful information regarding the state of affairs in regards to the country’s real estate. The value of real estate per square meter is skyrocketing at the moment, spurred on by wealthy Ukrainians who are fleeing war-torn lands and paying cash for properties that are located nearly 1200 km from their homeland.

Real estate demand was already high in the charming and enigmatic Central European jewel known as Slovakia. It has been a draw for quite some time by being famous for its historic castles, caves, hot springs, folk architecture, idyllic towns, wilderness, and coastal bluffs that spill into the Dead Sea. But now, the market has come to life like never before.

The biggest takeaway on real estate in this distinctive region is that it boasts similarities with what’s happening in BC’s beautiful Okanagan Valley. As households and investors take life by the horns and look beyond of their respective bubbles to secure properties, shortages in desirable communities ensue. If you’re thinking outside of the box and ready to make a life-changing purchase on a property anywhere in the world, we encourage you to begin the conversation with a globe-trotting broker who understands your position.
